Lake Cave, Margaret River, WA

Visit on the 1 Dec 09

Lake Cave is situated 25km south of Margaret River. It is renowned for its "Suspended Table" that weighs in excess of 5 tonnes, its seems to hang from the ceiling, hovering just a few centimetres above the lake creating a spectacular sight. Along Margaret River, there are 3 other caves to visit, the Mammoth Cave, Jewel Cave and Lake Cave. I guess visiting one cave is enough, and lake cave might be the better choice among the 3 other caves. The cave still has water in it.

The ticket price is AUD19.50, the tour last around 45 mins. Prepare for some stairs climbing, for the elderly, this might be a bit tiring for them.

Having been to caves in Malaysia and Thailand, this is certainly more beautiful and cooling. However, as what the Lake Cave tour guide told us, this cave is a pretty young cave as compared to the caves in Vietnam and China, which are a few thousand years old, much bigger and more beautiful.
